General Information
General Information

Mission Valley Women's Golf Association 9-Hole League (WGA-9) is open to all Mission Valley women golfers, of all skill levels. This group participates in weekly fun and engaging golf games while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow members. After golf, the group gathers in the clubhouse to share a beverage and swap stories about their games as they await the day's results.

Dues for the WGA-9 are $75 and are charged to your MVGC account on Oct 31st. The WGA-9 plays on Mondays from late October through April. Tee times begin at 12:30pm with groups assigned to play on both the front and back 9's.

Each week the Pro Shop will use Golf Genius to send an email to all WGA-9 members asking them to indicate "yes" or "no" as to whether they will be playing in the upcoming weekly event. Alternatively, WGA-9 members can call the Pro Shop to sign up for the upcoming weekly event. Once the event sign-up closes, members will be notified of their assigned tee time with an email from ForeTees. If you are unable to participate in the upcoming game after receiving a tee time, please call or email the Pro Shop as soon as possible so group adjustments can be made.

Participants of all individual play WGA-9 events will have their golf scores automatically posted to GHIN at the end of their round. Members are encouraged to post their own scores whenever they play outside of WGA-9 events to maintain an accurate handicap index.

Participants in the WGA-9 events must have an established handicap to be eligible for prizes. To establish a 9-hole handicap, a player must record scores for a minimum of 54 holes of golf (six 9-hole rounds). The annual WGA-9 Club Championship does require members to have a minimum of five WGA-9 weekly game scores posted in GHIN, for the current WGA-9 season.

WGA-9 Weekly Games and Prizes

Weekly game descriptions indicate whether prizes are awarded to a team or individual.

First place prizes will be $15; second place prizes will be $10. Chip-ins and Birdies are $5 each. All prizes are paid out with Pro Shop credit.

To give all WGA-9 members a chance to win prizes, individual members may only win 2 first place individual play prizes and 2 second place individual play prizes over the course of the league's season. Once these limits are reached, any additional wins will be recognized as Emeritus wins with no pro shop credit. Winning a prize while participating in a team event is exempt from these limits. There are no limits for birdies and chip-ins.

Ringer Board

WGA-9 members are eligible to participate in the season long Ringer Board competition. The entry fee is $10 (charged to your MVGC account). All monies collected will be paid back out in prizes. Participants will track and update their lowest score they made on each of front 9 and back 9 holes, over the course of the entire season. Those with the lowest total strokes, for the front 9 and back 9 will win.

Game Scoring
The Golf Genius app is used to keep track of all weekly game scores. One member of the team will be selected to also keep the electronic score, and another member will be selected to use a paper scorecard for backup. There are no "gimmies" or "mulligans" for the WGA-9 weekly events unless they are part of that week's game format. Unless the weekly event being played is a stroke competition (such as the Club Championship) or the game utilizes a team format, or other special format, once you have reached your maximum allowable strokes for the hole, be prepared to pick up your ball in order to keep up the pace of play.
Course Etiquette
Always observe all MVGC course rules. These rules include but are not limited to:
  • Keep up with the group in front of you. Your group should be no more than a half of hole behind the group in front of you. Wait behind the 150-yard marker until the green is clear, before you hit.
  • Wait till the green is clear to tee off on a par 3.
  • All four tires of the golf cart should remain on paths around greens and tees.
  • All carts, including those with handicap flags, must remain 30 yards from the green, not 30 yards from the flag.
  • Always rake your footprints after completing a shot from the sand traps.
  • Fix divots on the fairway with sand and on the greens with a tool.
  • Do not toss flag sticks on the ground, lay the stick down carefully to protect the GPS device on the flag.
  • Refrain from taking or making phone calls while playing golf, keep your phone on vibrate.
